Welcome Drink: Drappier Carte d'Or Brut NV
The perfect aperitif to greet your guests with, Drappier is a brand-new champagne house for us. Its subtle sweetness and fine bubbles with flavors of brioche and green apple will heighten the appetite and are guaranteed to put people in the party mood.
To Start: Olivier Riviere La Bastid 2019
A young French winemaker making modern Riojas, Olivier Riviere’s La Bastid is 85% Viura accompanied by Malvasia, creating the perfect balance between fruit expression and freshness. Pair it with the first course or appetizer for a light start to the evening, contrasting beautifully with what is to follow!
The American Classics: Failla Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2019 and Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2018
An American tradition through and through, no thanksgiving dinner would be complete without some Californian wines!
Failla’s Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is partly matured in American Oak, imparting flavors of honeysuckle, baked apples and sweet spices. Its medium bodied style pairs perfectly with Turkey, really complimenting the star of the show.
Their Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is from cool climate vineyards in the region, with a silky red berry texture that is a classic and unmissable pairing with turkey.
The conversation starters: Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2020 and Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico 2018
Everyone is a little different, so hosting Thanksgiving requires a variety of wines on offer to suit a range of tastes. These wines tick that box, fantastic (if a little less traditional) pairings that will keep conversation flowing and delight your guests!
Giant Steps Yarra Valley allows guests to try a different Pinot Noir from across the world, a beautiful contrast and comparison to its American counterpart. Very much a sum of its parts, the grapes are selected from three vineyards to blend. Cherry and vibrant red fruit on the pallet, with underlying earthiness and a savory, spicy finish.
A new producer for us, the Monsanto Chianti Classico is a bold and vibrant red to suit the beef and pork dishes on offer, not overpowering, but a nice accompaniment. Bright acidity, suriname cherry and red berry fruit flavors with integrated tannins that will work wonderfully with darker meats.
