Rully is one of the most northerly communes in the Chalonnaise sitting on the southern tail of the limestone ridge that forms the Cotes de Beaune and is perfectly suited to the production of white wine making twice as its red wines. This subsoil gives a flinty mineral edge to the wines aiding freshness and verve that aid early drinking yet sustains aging. The 13 acre Les Villeranges vineyard farmed by the Faiveley family since the 1930's has undergone a complete replanting scheme started in 1987 with the youngest planted in 2013. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand before a gentle pneumatic pressing and a four week fermentation in stainless steel and 50% in a mix of large French oak barrels only 10% being new, giving more texture than oaky-ness to the floral fresh fruited mineral nose and palate.
