Pra Soave Classico Monte Grande 2022
Garganega is perhaps not as well-known as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc but it’s responsible for some of Italy’s most energetic and nuanced white wines. Monte Grande is quite unusual amongst Pra’s dynamic Soave portfolio, blending Garganega with Trebbiano di Soave, another local white variety to produce an outstanding example from this region in northeastern Italy. The blend of grapes, partial drying on the vine, along with the superb single vineyard location, gives Monte Grande its considerable complexity and elegance with lovely aromatics and a subtle honeyed texture.

We’ve been following this estate since brothers Julien and Nicolas took over from their father Christian in 2018, and it has ‘rising star’ written all over it. They hold prime vineyard plots in Grand Cru’s Corton and Corton-Charlemagne, as well as Nuits Saint Georges, Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny, the source for this incredibly fresh, vibrant and detailed Pinot Noir, showing crunchy red berry fruit, a seductive, silky tannic structure, and a long, mouthwatering finish.

Dal Forno
Dal Forno’s estate in Illasi, on the eastern edge of Valpolicella, is one of the most obsessive operations in all of Italy. Every grape is dried for months and the wines spend years in barrel and in bottle before Romano decides they’re ready.
We’re opening the 2018 Valpolicella and the 2018 Amarone this Saturday. The Valpolicella is Dal Forno’s ‘entry point,’ and the Amarone is the real thing: massive structure, extraordinary concentration, and a drinking window that stretches decades.
Stop by Saturday between 10am and 5pm to try these wines alongside our Wine of the Week from Prá, the Soave Monte Grande.
