Domaine Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru ‘Clos du Roy’ Rouge 2022
Domaine Faiveley has been farming Burgundy since 1825, building one of the region’s great estates across 12 Grand Crus and 25 Premier Crus. But their walled vineyard in Mercurey, Clos du Roy, punches way above its weight.
South facing limestone and white marl give the wine a finesse that rivals Côte de Nuits Premier Crus. The 2022 is ripe plums, damp earth, velvety tannins, and that mineral backbone Burgundy nerds obsess over. 93 points from Decanter.

Patrick Piuze is one of the most talked-about figures in Chablis today — a Québécois-born winemaker who arrived in Burgundy in the late ‘90s and refined his winemaking skills working alongside top producers before launching his own négociant label in 2008. His wines are known for their precision, minerality, and clarity. Viña Alberdi comes from the iconic La Rioja Alta estate, renowned for crafting some of the most elegant and traditionally styled wines the region has to offer. The reserva spends two years aging in American oak barrels, followed by a further two years in bottle, resulting in a beautifully mature Tempranillo with seamlessly integrated oak, gentle tertiary complexity, and a smooth, silky mouthfeel.

Domaine Faiveley
Domaine Faiveley has been farming Burgundy since 1825. Seven generations, more monopole vineyards than any other domaine in the region, and wines built to age with real purpose.
This Saturday we’re tasting two wines from opposite ends of Burgundy. The Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roy and the Corton Clos des Cortons Grand Cru. A Faiveley monopole since 1874 and one of only two Grands Crus to carry the producer’s name. Blackberries, cassis, cinnamon, blood orange, and structure for days.
